Assessment of the need for social welfare services

In the Wellbeing Services County of Central Finland, the assessment of the need for social welfare services is conducted as a part of other social work and social counselling. Some workers have direct telephone hours, in some municipalities there is also a helpline or a centralised customer guidance number.

In the services for people of working-age, the service need assessment is initiated for adults who are found to have a potential need for social welfare services. A request for a service need assessment may come from a client, network or other source.

You can, together with a close person, contact the service need assessment unit by phone or in writing. A contact about a person living in the area of Jyväskylä, Laukaa, Hankasalmi, Muurame, Petäjävesi and Jämsä can also be made electronically through Omapalvelu (form in Finnish).

If it is not possible to bring the matter up with the person in question, and you still have a concern over the situation, you can submit a notification of concern. Notifications of the need for social welfare services can be submitted electronically, by telephone or on a paper form. In addition, residents of Jyväskylä, Muurame, Laukaa, Hankasalmi, Jämsä and Petäjävesi can submit an electronic notification of concern in Omapalvelu (form in Finnish)
